Last year, Best Buy customers purchased enough ENERGY STAR® certified products to collectively save $67,120,515 in annual energy costs. That not only saved customer’s money, it saved enough energy to help power 70,538 households for an entire year! The greenhouse gas emissions saved from purchasing ENERGY STAR® certified Audio Equipment and Sound Bars was equivalent to removing 2,013 cars from the road for a year as well. To me, that seems like a huge impact on the environment. I know where I’m doing my holiday shopping!
What I like most about buying ENERGY STAR® products is all the good they do. These products not only help me; they help everyone in the world. Reducing energy consumption helps fight climate change by reducing carbon emissions and other pollutants, which preserves more of our planet’s natural resources. This makes the world a better place for us and future generations.
ENERGY STAR® products may use less but they often do more than conventional models. Take, for instance, ENERGY STAR® certified dryers. They use 20 percent less energy because they use the latest energy saving technology and are equipped with things like moisture sensors that turn the machine off when clothes are dry. Some models even include steam cycles that keep you from having to iron clothes (I hate ironing). My dryer has both of those features and I love it. To avoid that sour smell, I usually set my dryer to run longer. In the old days, this would have resulted in higher utility bills and increased effects on my load. High heat for extended periods of time can really shorten the life (and size) of your clothes. Now that my dryer has moisture sensors, I don’t have to worry about any of that. I let technology take care of it.
I am a huge fan of ENERGY STAR® certified audio/video equipment, especially sound bars. When it comes to entertainment, what I hear is just as important as what I see. I love a good sound system and have a hard time watching TV without one. ENERGY STAR® sound bars not only crank out amazing sound, they can also be up to 50 percent more efficient than conventional models. When you bundle them with ENERGY STAR® certified televisions and other equipment, you are basically swimming in a sea of efficiency. What a great time to be alive!
I have been buying ENERGY STAR® certified products for a while. I love how they come with two price tags. This doesn’t mean I pay double either. One price tag is the purchase price and the other is how much it costs to operate the product. This helps put my decision in perspective by revealing a much bigger financial picture. I wish every product was marketed this way!
