My generation was the original Star Wars audience and just like any other young boy, I was captivated by the storyline. I collected everything Star Wars and I watched every one of the movies when they came out. My walls were filled with pictures featuring Han Solo and Darth Vader. I would dream of the characters and storylines that filled my imagination day after day. When I became a dad, I shared my passion for Star Wars with my son and through the years we have bonded time and time again over the new movies and different merchandise that comes along with it all.
This year with the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story© TM Lucasfilm LTD our favorite tissue brand, Kleenex® will be featuring boxes with different scenes from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We were fortunate enough to get a sneak peek earlier this Fall and they were a hit here. As a matter of fact, once the tissues were gone we decided to make one of the boxes into a DIY Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Night Light. James and I simply peeled off the clear plastic and gently poked holes in the tissue box with a pick. We made various sized small holes and when we were finished we added one of those light up ice cubes that change color. The outcome was pretty cool and turned his room into a Galatic wonderland. You could also use a faux-tea light candle (not a real candle!) for a similar effect.
Just like the ordinary people who are tasked with doing extraordinary things in the Star Wars saga, we can all show each other that we care by offering small gestures, like sharing a Kleenex tissue. It’s a great conversation to have with your child as you work together on the DIY Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Night Light. The opportunities are endless to show care in the moments of need and one soft Kleenex tissue is all you need to start.
